Rodeo Riding Reduces Men's Fertility, No Bull

THE trauma involved in bull-riding had a direct link to a rider's ability to father children, a researcher said yesterday.

Central Queensland Fertility Clinic scientific director Simon Walton has called on bull-riders to donate sperm to measure the impact of the sport on their fertility.

Mr Walton, whose clinic is based in Rockhampton, which locals claim is the beef capital of Australia, said bull-riding affected sperm quality.

`The force of the trauma each time they go out there is quite incredible,' Mr Walton said.

He said other sports linked to poor sperm quality were competitive cycling, motorcycling and horse-riding.
